Scholarship Opportunities for Red Hook Students
The Conservation Advisory Council administers two scholarships for Red Hook students interested in the environment and outdoors. Each scholarship is awarded annually. See below for details and application information.
Ruth Oja Scholarship
Established by the Town of Red Hook CAC in honor of Ruth Oja and offered through the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, this scholarship is available to residents of Red Hook, NY who are college bound graduating high school seniors or the home-schooled equivalent pursuing studies in environmental science or a related discipline or who have demonstrated a sensitivity to the environment through leadership/participation in pro-environmental programs like recycling, land conservancy, environmental cleanup projects, etc.
This scholarship shall be applied to tuition costs at an accredited college university or trade school. Award amount is $500.
Scholarship applications are available online to interested, eligible students and must be submitted

DEC Camp Scholarship
This scholarship is generously sponsored by the Red Hook VFW Post 7765 and Hendrick Hudson Masonic Lodge # 875 and allows two Town of Red Hook residents or students attending school in the Red Hook Central School District to attend a week of Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) summer camp for free. Applicants must be between the ages of 11-17. Successful applicants will be selected on the basis of a written application. Applications are available online or at Town Hall, and can be submitted to the Town Clerk or by email. Applications for the 2023 camp season are due by 4pm on March 17th, 2023.
