NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
UPDATED REGARDING VIDEOCONFERENCING
TOWN OF RED HOOK
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Red Hook on February 14, 2023 at 7:35 P.M. local time, to hear all interested persons on a proposed Local Law No. A (Proposed) of 2023 entitled “A LOCAL LAW TO AMEND CHAPTER 126 ENTITLED TAXATION BY ENACTING A NEW ARTICLE V ENTITLED “VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND AMBULANCE WORKERS EXEMPTION,” REGARDING A PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND AMBULANCE WORKERS PURSUANT TO SECTION 466-a OF THE REAL PROPERTY TAX LAW” has been submitted to the Town Board of the Town of Red Hook (the “Proposed Local Law”) to exercise the Town’s right, pursuant to Section 466-a of the Real Property Tax Law, to enact legislation that will exempt up to 10% of assessed value of real property owned by an enrolled member of an incorporated volunteer fire company, department or voluntary ambulance service who has served a minimum number of years.
The Town Board has determined that the proposed local law is best described as a local legislative decision concerning routine administration and management under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (“SEQRA”).
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that copies of said proposed Local Law are available for review at the Town Hall, 7340 South Broadway, Red Hook, New York 12571.
All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard at said hearing. The public is encouraged to submit written comments, by email to email@example.com or by mail to the Town Clerk, or by dropping a copy in the Town’s drop box at 7340 South Broadway, Red Hook, New York 12571, for receipt in advance of the hearing by 4:00 p.m. the day of the hearing. Please note “Local Law No. A (Proposed) of 2023” in the subject. All comments so received in advance of the hearing will be noted in the hearing record. Please observe the recommendations of the CDC regarding distancing and use of masks.
Pursuant to Section 22-15 of the Town Code and the Town’s Videoconferencing Policy, one or more Board members may participate in the public hearing via video conference. Interested persons may register in advance to participate remotely via Zoom. To register, please send your email, name and telephone number to firstname.lastname@example.org by 2:00 p.m. on the date of the hearing. Persons interested in speaking at the hearing via Zoom should so indicate in their registration email to the Town Clerk.
