The Town has once again been advised by NYS that to meet the 100% equalization rate all properties must be trended with the change in market valuation from July 2021 to July 2022. Your property assessment has been updated to incorporate the new valuation.
As a reminder, increased assessments do not necessarily translate into increasing taxes. Taxes are a function of both the property value and the tax rate. For example, last year’s residential property assessments increased by 17%. During budget season, the Town Board adopted a reduction of approximately 17% in the rate to adjust for those new valuations.
