Arbor Day Celebration
This year marks the 150th anniversary of National Arbor Day.
The official holiday is April 29, 2022 but the Town of Red Hook Tree Preservation Commission has already begun its celebration of this tree planter’s day.
On April 4th a group of volunteers gathered to plant thirteen trees along the walking path at Rec Park West and two trees in the parking lot near the Red Hook pool.
The celebration will continue with nature walks and a poster contest at Mill Road School, and will conclude on Saturday April 30th with activities at the Town Building, located at 7340 S. Broadway. Supervisor Robert McKeon will open the event at 10 AM with remarks and a reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation. There will be free tree seedlings and informational pamphlets, a raffle, and bluebird nesting boxes for sale. The Red Hook Library will host story hour and a hands-on activity for
the kids, and a local beekeeper will answer your questions about
“Bees and Trees”.
Mark your calendars!
